When the pandemic started, my husband and I had an emergency money management meeting. We started praying and asking God about what to do. God’s direction for us was to pay off any debt we owe, not buy that house, generate more sources of income, and add more money into our emergency account. Our original plan was to start the house buying process in July of 2020. Any debt we owed, we paid off, and my hobby of making all-natural body scrubs turned into Mahogany Body Bar.
We knew not to panic because we just got out of one storm two months before COVID hit. In October of 2019, my doctor told me that I must get a complete hysterectomy in less than a month. Just like COVID, it came when I was not accepting it. We didn’t have much time to prepare mentally, but during that time we learned that we didn’t have everything together and we needed to fix things. During my downtime from 25 November 2019 to 13 January 2019, we went to work fixing our issues, so that when the next storm comes, we will be better prepared. When COVID hit, it was time to pull those bootstraps up and get to work.
