The church I attended growing up was a Baptist church in a rural in Houston, TX. The Pastor preached give 10% to God and that’s it. There was no “why” behind that principle. I learned why years later. Tithing is about discipline of the resources given to you. God needs to know you can manage his resources before you can get more. Everything you do on earth takes money and resources. Are you managing the resources you have?
Here are some signs you are not managing your resources:
1. Your monies on your mind 24/7
Rapper Young Blood Z wrote a song Mind on My Money. The whole song talks about thinking about money all the time will make you rich. That is far from the truth. If you are constantly doing mental calisthenics trying to remember when bills are due, or will I make enough money this month to pay bills, and worried if the check will clear, then that’s one sign you’re not managing your money
If all your bills on auto pay you are managing your money properly.
2. You have no idea where your money is going month after month
Do you know the last thing you bought? If you have to consistently transfer money out your savings into your checking to cover your expenses your spending is out of control.
Telling your money where to go, will help you stay within budget and not overspend.
3. Your credit cards are maxed out
Being a slave to lender will keep you behind on your bills and your dreams. The interest accumulating will make it near to impossible to pay the with credit card off if you are making the minimum payment monthly.
Let’s say you have a credit card with a $5,000 credit card balance and a 24.99% interest rate. If you had a minimum payment of $100 and just paid the minimum on the card, it would take you over 30 years to pay off the card and you would have paid close to $44,000 in interest ALONE!
Get some help and stop the financial bleeding!
Use only 5-10% of your credit cards a month. This allows you not to overspend and increases your credit score. Invest your money so it can grow. Your making credit card companies rich overpaying interest.
4. You don’t have a plan
Are you existing our living? If don’t have a plan for your life or your money you turn around and your 65 and broke. It’s so easy to get caught up the Rat Race of life and taking care of others. Take care of YOU first before you take care of someone else.
Do better with your money
While you’re doing what you can to survive it’s easy to forget the indications that things have being going as well as they might be.
Conquering your income is all about getting self-control and finding ways to successfully handle your finances in a way that works for you so you can relish today while preparing to enjoy your life in the future.
