Different Ways To Create Financial Goals

Nov 11, 2022 | Blog

Many financial experts suggest that you focus on creating a budget. Please make a habit that will help you achieve your goals. Do you know what your financial goals are? I will share one of mine to give you an example. I want to pay my student loans off in five years. I used an online calculator to help me figure out how much I would have to pay monthly. There are many calculators, but I used this one: https://smartasset.com/student-loans/student-loan-calculator#n9F4KRsHU8. Look at the chart below for how much you need to pay monthly to pay off your student loan.

Loan Amount Interest Rate Loan Term Monthly Payment
50,000 4.66% 5 years $936.00

The first step is to write down all your financial goals and pick the top three that you need to focus on. Do not be overwhelmed by trying to achieve everything at once. Here are some common financial goals:

  1. Save $1,000 in six months
  2. Pay off debt in one year
  3. Increase credit score to 700
  4. Only use a credit card once a month

Do you notice how I added a deadline to the above goals? This will hold you accountable and help you achieve your goals. If you need support, get someone to also push you towards your goals. Take the time to impress yourself, today. You will also find that your confidence will grow when you achieve your goals. I dare you to try it!

Next, purchase a new notebook or use a specific one just for your financial goals. I want you to write down any ideas regarding achieving your goals when they come to mind. Pray and ask God to help and support you. He will give you the right ideas, support, resources, wisdom, and knowledge. All you need to do is trust in Him and follow the plan. Be patient during this time; things will only happen if you want them to. Do not give up!

Lastly, forgive yourself for any mistakes that you might have made when it comes to your financial life. You are not your mistakes. Learn from the wrongs and move on. You cannot change the past, and how the present and future looks is up to you. Do the work! Read the following blogs to get further help and support:
